The project of CR anti-corrosion tape is a cooperation project which was developed by CNPC (China national petroleum company) pipeline company and PLT company together since 2009.

The project is aimed at recent situation of China-petro pipeline company, especially for solving some complex problems about the used anti-corrosion tapes of cold-applied ones which of those tapes are losing their effective protection features at the early stage of their use life. The problems include poor strength ability, poor water penetration resistance, poor physical and chemical properties and poor adhesion performance which is getting even more worse.

In order to solve these problems about the used anti-corrosion tapes, CNPC which ranks the second largest oil & gas company in China decided to work together with Shandong PLT anti-corrosion coating technology company to develop innovative cold-applied tapes.

According to the latest news from the innovation department of PLT, this CR anti-corrosion tape adopts different adhesion mechanism characteristics which can increase the adhesion ability about 3 times than  conventional products. The outstanding characteristics of CR anti-corrosion tape as followings:

1-Excellent combination of waterproof and airtightness characteristics.

2-Remarkable adhesion performance.

3-Effective protection about preventing steam of soil to touch the pipe.

All of the above characteristics of CR anti-corrosion tape have been verified by the photo-thermal-aging test which was used to last 180 days, the result of the test illustrated that the ability of aging resistance of tape layer is much better than PE plastic products. And, it will be the best solution for the use of pipeline rehab to control any corrosion damage. 

In November 2009, CR anti-corrosion tape was firstly been successfully accomplished industrial application test in WEI FANG, Shan Dong province, China. After one year, in May 2010, the pipe in WEI FANG was been unearthed from the field and combined with various professional testings. The result illustrated that CR anti-corrosion tape has a high quality of anti-corrosion performance compare to conventional anti-corrosion tapes. The success of the project marks the challenge of pipe coating system rehab has been completely resolved.
